Sandguss + Wax Carving Workshop (ganzer Tag)

A jewellery shop on the Oderberger Straße with a goldsmith’s bench built into the back of it, where what is on the shelves was made a few metres away. Two workshops, both for absolute beginners. In the half day you carve a ring out of wax, shaping it exactly as you want it; it is cast in sterling silver — or gold, if you ask — and ready to collect about three or four weeks later. The full day takes you the whole way in one sitting: you carve the wax, then cast it yourself in sand, set a stone into the pour if you like, and file and polish the ring until it is finished, going home with your own silver ring the same evening. Up to ten grams of silver, the wax and the use of every tool are in the price, along with a list of what to buy and where if you want to keep going. Six people on the half day, three on the full one, since the casting takes its time. She also opens the bench to anyone who has been before and wants to work alone.
