Georgian wine tastings with Chelti
Georgian wine tastings in Berlin with Chelti, Isoldestraße 4, Friedenau. Dates on request. Group: From 4. Length: 2 hours. Languages: German.
Chelti is a family winery in the Alazani Valley in Kakheti, eastern Georgia, founded in 2001 in the village of Shilda and named after the river it lies on. Alongside wines aged in steel and oak, it makes qvevri wine, the oldest way of making wine: must and grape skins ferment together in a clay vessel buried in the ground. Its wine shop in Berlin-Friedenau holds tastings, and a private tasting for your group is put together around your interests, from four people, for a team evening or a Christmas party. At their qvevri tasting, for example, you taste six wines (three amber wines from the old Georgian grapes Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Khikhvi, and three reds from Saperavi) with Georgian antipasti, and learn how qvevri wine is made.
You’re following Chelti. We’ll email you when there are new dates.
